Mounting a motor bearing sensor

Find a suitable location to mount the sensor. The sensor should be mounted on the bearing cap or as close to the bearing cap as possible. The sensor can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Here is an example of a horizontally-mounted sensor on the Motor DE.

An example of the sensor mounted vertically on the Motor DE. The selected location should not be too close to areas that will interfere with regular motor maintenance activities (eg. grease nipples or bearing bolts). The selected location should allow for the sensor flylead to be oriented away from the shaft area, and the sensor flylead coupling should be easily accessible when the sensor is in place.

Here the sensor is only partially attached to the Motor NDE bearing cap. This is preferable to locating the sensor further from the bearing cap.

It is important to clearly understand where the bearing is located within the bearing housing. In this picture it was preferable to mount the sensor adjacent to the Motor NDE bearing rather than on the thin metal bearing cap.
